I’ve come out of the other end of a long tunnel. The memorial service on Tuesday went pretty well, as far as those things go. There was a big crowd, which was cool and somewhat unexpected for a man who outlived most (maybe all) of his contemporaries. Robert did a great job with the eulogy. There’s no possible way I could have read it – listening to him was tough enough. I’m glad I was able to share some stories about Granddad and even managed to eke a couple of laughs out of the crowd. Also, I had “hell” in one of the stories, a semi-bad word as far as church goes. As in, “It was hot as hell.” Nice, huh? He would have expected no less and was probably relieved it was that word and not one of the big seven. I think he would have liked what I wrote. I hope he heard it.
