baby steps

Ahhh, my first blog from the Mac. I am slowly making progress figuring out how in the hell to use this thing. As my father pointed out, if I weren’t so used to PCs, the Mac would be easier to handle. Also, I’ve had little time to play with my new toy. May was one of the busiest months I’ve had in forever. I leave Tuesday night to go to Minneapolis for six days, so I’m hoping to have some time to get familiar with the Mac on that trip. Not sure if it’ll happen or not because I’m going to a theatre conference and there are late-night events planned almost every evening.

Went to another wedding yesterday. When I arrived at the reception, I rolled up to the valet and told the guy that I wanted to park my own car. He looked at me like I was crazy. Then he had to go consult with another valet attendant because he didn’t know what to tell me. So that guy came over, obviously put out by the whole thing, and directed me to the next parking garage over. Keep in mind, it was raining at this point and I was wearing heels. So I made a big display of being not happy with the situation as I drove off in a huff. Bastards. The whole valet situation in Houston is really getting on my nerves. I’m waiting for the grocery store to start demanding we valet our cars. As I wrote in Dilettante today, it wouldn’t be so bothersome if the parking lot was reserved for people who want to park their own cars and valet drivers had to park elsewhere. That’s the way it used to be. That’s the way it should be.
